About the festival
Join us for the 15th Carob Festival on Friday, September 4, at 8:00 PM in the courtyard of Agios Georgios Church in Pegeia. Petros Imvrios and Triantafyllos will lift our spirits with music and dance.
The carob harvesting season begins in September, and locals can't help but celebrate this special product, also known as 'Cyprus' Black Gold.' Carob trees have grown on the island since the Neolithic era (7000-3000 BC). Carobs and their numerous by-products are abundant on the island, and we are delighted to benefit from their valuable nutritional impact daily.
The Municipality of Pegeia celebrates our Black Gold at the Carob Festival! The picturesque location above the fishing shelter and the view of the magnificent sunset are an additional incentive to attend this event, even if you've never tasted carob in your life! Come and learn about this versatile fruit with its numerous properties and uses.
At the event, you will enjoy food, drink, and traditional Cypriot delicacies.
