About the festival

For 35 years, Fasoula village in the Limassol district has hosted its established Resi Festival, an institution deeply intertwined with the community's cultural life. Each year, residents, expatriates, and visitors gather for a grand celebration aimed at preserving local customs and traditions and passing them on to younger generations.

The festival's star, of course, is Resi, one of the most distinctive dishes of Cypriot tradition. Made with wheat and meat, after hours of patient cooking, it was historically a staple of major celebrations, especially traditional Cypriot weddings. Its preparation was not merely a culinary process but a collective experience that brought together relatives, friends, and the entire community.

Through the Resi Festival, Fasoula revives this very sense of communal gathering. Visitors have the opportunity to learn firsthand how this traditional dish is prepared, taste it, and discover its history and symbolism. Additionally, the event is enriched each year with music, traditional dances, food, and activities that create the atmosphere of an authentic Cypriot celebration.

More than just a gastronomic event, the Resi Festival is a living reminder of Cyprus's cultural heritage. For 35 years, the community of Fasoula has kept the cauldron of tradition simmering, inviting the public to be part of a celebration that unites taste, memory, and people.
