About the festival
Summer in Cyprus has its own distinct flavor, and that is none other than the refreshing watermelon of Frenaros. One of our island's most beloved cultural institutions makes a dynamic return as the 17th Pancyprian Cultural Watermelon Festival opens its gates this year, inviting all ages to an evening filled with music, tradition, and Cypriot hospitality.
The festival will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the Frenaros Municipal Stadium, with the program commencing at 7:00 PM.
For the 17th consecutive year, Frenaros honors the product that is a landmark for the region and inextricably linked to its agricultural tradition. The watermelon, a symbol of Cypriot summer, is at the heart of a grand celebration combining culture, gastronomy, and entertainment.
This year's event will feature two beloved artists from the Greek music scene, Christos Menidiatis and Eleftheria Eleftheriou, who are expected to offer the audience a unique musical evening with popular hits, high spirits, and an uplifting atmosphere.
Beyond the artistic program, visitors will have the opportunity to experience local tradition firsthand, enjoy the hospitality of the area's residents, and celebrate one of Cyprus's most significant agricultural products.
The event is organized by the Frenaros Municipal District of Paralimni – Deryneia Municipality, held under the auspices of the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection, and supported by sponsors and communication partners.
