About the festival
After its postponement last July, the grand Fisherman's Festival in Xylofagou has a new date and returns on Thursday, October 1.
From 15:00 to 20:00, the Xylofagou Fishing Shelter will transform into a vibrant celebration hub, brimming with sea flavors, music, dance, and activities for the whole family, including fresh fish, seafood meze, live cooking, and island festivities with PASPARTOU.
The event is dedicated to the people of the sea, their daily lives, and the fishing traditions that remain a significant part of the region's identity. Through a rich program, visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the world of fishermen and enjoy a pleasant afternoon by the water.
The stars of the festival will, of course, be fresh fish and seafood meze. Live cooking demonstrations will take place, allowing the public to watch the preparation of various dishes and discover flavors inspired by the sea. The program will also include tastings, offering visitors the chance to sample delicacies and learn more about local products.
Of particular interest are the fishing and net-making demonstrations. Attendees will be able to observe the tools, techniques, and practices used by fishermen, learning more about a profession directly linked to the sea and the tradition of Cyprus's coastal communities.
The musical highlight of the day will be PASPARTOU, who will create an authentic island celebration with beloved songs, live music, and dance. Traditional dance groups will also participate, creating a festive atmosphere that will captivate both young and old.
The event is also designed with activities for children. Games and creative workshops will allow young visitors to have fun while learning about the world of the sea and fishing in an enjoyable and experiential way.
The Fisherman's Festival is a wonderful opportunity for a family outing on the public holiday. An afternoon dedicated to sea flavors, to the people who keep fishing traditions alive, and to Xylofagou's special relationship with the sea.
