INGREDIENTS
- 3 cups all-purpose flour (you might need 1-2 tbsp extra if the dough is sticky)
- 2 teaspoons dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ⅓ cup full-fat Greek yogurt
- 3/4 cup warm water, approximately
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
For Cooking
- Vegetable oil
METHOD
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, salt, yogurt, olive oil, and water. Knead until you have a soft and elastic dough (if it's sticky, add a little more flour).
- Cover and let it rise for 30-60 minutes. Once doubled in size, divide the dough into 7 balls and flatten each one into a thin, round disc on an oiled plate, using only your hand.
- Heat a pan well, brush it with a little oil, and cook each pitta for 1-2 minutes per side, until it puffs up and develops brown spots. Optionally, brush the warm pittas with melted butter.
